The way home
A downloadable jam project for Windows
Warning: This game touches on topics that can trigger unpleasant memories
Surreal psycho 2.5D horror without any sound screamers or jumpscares. The plot is based on real life experience of one of developers.
Main idea of this game - the “scaryest” events in our life is about a feeling of helplessness and constant anxiety for your safety. Even in everyday actions.
The game is partial voice-acted. Unique audio tracks were written for the game, some of them are inspired by neural networks programs. Every element in the game is hand-drawn. Real strategies to deal with high anxiety situations are provided as elements of gameplay.
The game was made in 7 days as part of the Halloween Jam 2023 INDICON subtopic was “the dark side”. The problem of the lack of a sense of security among young women.
Controls:
Space = move and stop
Shift = run
E = use headphones to reduce stress level
UPD: Due to the fact that game provide lack of info about stress level reducing, here some mowe information (we will add it as info-icon later).
You got 3 main strategies to decrease stress level:
* To turn on you phone and to listen some music. Attention! If battery level drop below 5%, this oppotrunity will no more be avaible. Almost like in real life, due to low temteture your phone coud... unexpectedly reduce its battery level by itself:
* To stop and to chek if anybody after you. You could stop ONLY under lyght, because shadows looks less safetyle:
* After rain thare are some extra strategies - you can try to change "subject", but it will need of you to focus on it for more that N sec.
